Issues
Here is my list of the 100 major horrors we face in America today
To absorb this list all at once is a truly frightening thing! While it is basically a phrase outline with notes at this time, the list represents a hundred or so of the major issues, problems and directions we Americans need to monitor, analyze, disassemble and then revise, redo or rebuild in better form.
The list is not complete, obviously, and the huge stories behind each of the items listed need to be told in depth. Some of the items are overlapping in context, but so be it. I intend to refine the list as time go on.
Here is the list in no special order except as they occurred to me:
1. Government spending: hyperinflation is near at hand!
2. Government growth
3. Government arrogance
4. Judicial activism is not an allowed function of courts, and it subverts the Constitutional system of checks and balances.
5. Attacks on the Constitution must be thwarted.
6. Political correctness and multiculturalism (PCMC)
7. Secularism and the ACLU are driving God out of the public square.
8. Government lying, shading the truth, cooking the books
9. Gun control efforts to disarm the public and leave them defenseless. Law-abiding citizens should have an arsenal and be able to use the weapons effectively.
10. Anti-military and anti defense movements
11. Open borders clowns subverting our sovereignty in a bald vote-buying move.
12. AGW supporters gone hyper over something we most likely cannot fix.
13. Public sector unionism
14. Islam and Jihadism, the GWOT must be renamed GWOI
15. Growth of entitlements with vastly increased future costs.
16. Amnesty for Illegal immigrants—why? Because they are here? No, they broke the law.
17. Judicial soft-heartedness; revolving-door prisons, unusually light sentences, etc.
18. Internationalism and the UN; we are not ready for world government. There are too many amoral or immoral nations and their corrupt leaders still standing.
19. Erosion of property rights by the Supreme Court

92. Ethics and virtues need an overhaul at work, in the home and at school.
93. Pornography is rampant and far too accessible by children.
94. The drug war needs a significant boost, and it isn’t legalization of drugs!
95. Education in most K12 schools and in churches is terrible, especially about American history, its government, values, civics, and freedom as opposed to all other forms of governance.
96. Every government organization needs a thorough-going audit and review of its necessity, budget, personnel and policies with a view to downsizing, eliminating, consolidating, or streamlining their operations.
97. Reject pacifism at all costs!
98. Reject the proliferation of so-called social needs.
99. Scientific programs that benefit man should be supported. Others should be reviewed for possible termination.
100. Beware of con men spouting “hope and change” slogans; remember that that is exactly what they are---slogans.

The UN on steroids? Hell no!
Do I think that conservatives would object to the formation of a strong international government with its own military force?
Yes, indeed, many conservatives would rise in opposition to this idea for a number of reasons:
1) Few if any safeguards or “limited powers” can ultimately prevent such an international army from violating the sovereignty of any nation that has reaped the displeasure of the UN or any other international body. Of the 190-odd nations in the UN, a considerable majority are not favorable to the US, and any security committee composed of many hostile nations , such as could arise in the UN Security Council, can and do block actions the US would favor, or initiate actions the US would consider to be immoral.
2) There would be no disinterested higher authority a violated nation could appeal to for timely justice.
3) This amounts to relinquishing considerable sovereignty of the US to an international body that we neither can control nor be assured of decisions favorable to the US, or to the moral standards of free and democratic nations.
4) Many of the nations of the world today, and for the foreseeable future, are immoral or amoral to begin with (communist, totalitarian, etc.), have a government that has no common ethical basis with the free world, or else have an economic or vengeful interest in a certain outcome, and their judgement or vote to use force would be highly suspect, if not immoral in itself.
5) We have seen the problems of the UN and its SC up front and personal. To give such a collection of rascals the power to declare and execute war or “policing actions” on anyone using their own forces is an abomination. Korea was dubbed a “policing action”, for instance, by the UN.
6) This One World kind of scheme will continue to have the fatal flaw of some or even a majority of foxes guarding the hen house, and the fatal flaw of irreconcilable moral convictions, until democracy and ethics are normalized sufficiently in the governments and the peoples of just about all nations. That will take forever to realize, which explodes the Utopian concept of One World-ism. In my opinion, federations of nations are possible, but a single, all powerful world government is either a chimera or a nightmare.
7) The idea that participation in the UN or similar organization aids the introduction of that nation into greater democracy and freedom is simply not proven.
Meanwhile, we should do our very best together with the free and democratic nations that are our friends and allies to keep things going in a constructive direction towards more freedom and liberty worldwide.

Traits and Attitudes and their Persistence
People and their Opposite Attitudes and Traits.
Obviously, these are not binary attitudes or traits, but degree-to-which traits depending on many factors. These are the poles that people lean towards or away from, and at times surprise even themselves at their attitudes either way in a given instance.

Applied to individuals, these attitudes and traits are somewhat malleable and can drift from one pole to the other over time as a function of many factors, including education, training, faith, experiences, maturation, stress, and so forth.
Applied to individual groups these traits tend more uniformly towards the poles in their outward behavior, because groups tend to form around one or more of these common attitudes, traits and positions.
Applied to groups of groups, serious conflicts can arise between the groups over one or more of the attitudes or traits, if one or more of their polar positions are in opposite directions.
Applied to a nation made up of groups, it requires strong laws and law enforcement to keep the conflicts between groups (and super-groups) at a minimum, such as represented by our Constitutional, State and Civil laws at many levels of government, together with their enforcement, as well as strong application of our mores, ethics, morals, institutions, customs and traditions.
The higher up in the government chain a conflict progresses the more polarized one way or another it tends to become, and the common factors and nuances between the groups tend to become lost as positions harden in their own defense. (This is one argument for subsidiarity in government. Justice can be better served the closer the impartial jurist is to the site of conflict.)
Then we arrive at the super-groups called nations, and their conflicting attitudes and traits, together with their goals and ambitions, their resources in men and material, and their will to succeed. Here lies the stuff of wars, of conquest, of subjugation, and of capture of resources and strategic territory.
Judging by the history of the past 50 years or so, we as a people have not arrived at a sound solution to either international conflicts between nations or internal insurrections within nations.
That a conflict such as Israel-Palestine can last for hundreds of years, even thousands of years by some accounts, speaks to the intractability of the problem. This conflict has brought to bear each and every attitude and trait identified above on both sides of the conflict, from each of the individuals through layers of groups (or tribes and religions) up to the national level, and no intermediation has had the slightest long-term effect.

Know Thyself
Know Thyself is still valid advice!
This advice, attributable to a number of early Greek philosophers, including Socrates, is far easier to state than to achieve. What does it really mean, and how can one go about the task of knowing one's self in a rational manner?
This direction, and working towards its satisfaction, is essential to the development of a personal philosophy. I have been working on my version of how to achieve this knowledge for a while, without trying to state explicitly what my method for achieving it was.
A personal philosophy should cover each of the key problems that philosophy in general covers:
1) Knowledge and how it is obtained and verified,
2) Conduct of one's life,
3) Governance in one's life and culture to resolve any conflicts with other men who might have a wildly differing philosophy.
Now, I am readying a paper on this "how to" subject, which might be of interest to others. Stay tuned, I should be able to publish it in a few days.
UPDATE
Well, a few days is going to turn into a few months, or even more! The unknown unknowns got me! There are too many variables at the beginning, and too many prerequisites, for the range of people that might be interested. Such items as their current education, knowledge of philosophy and logic, religious affiliation, current self-knowledge, intelligence, and much more, affect the ideas I had for a common and practical methodology.
The one clear and surviving suggestion for the method I can state is that committing to writing down your own belief system or your philosophy of life in considerable detail is a task that will drive you in the direction I had intended. You will uncover gaps in your knowledge of both your external and internal world, which in turn will send you to research the literature, study and reflect on what you have learned to fill those gaps. It is a long, hard, discovery method that many people will give up on when the intellectual going gets tough.
After you have settled the main issues for your philosophy and have put them into writing, your job is still very incomplete. You discover many more subsidiary issues that simply must be solved in some sense. In fact, it is a lifetime work to do it real justice, though the preliminary edition of your philosophy will be a wonderful beginning to knowing thyself.

World Government is a Pipedream
Global Governance?
Managing the non-democratic rogues and cowboys in the world by creating a democratic super-institution is clearly a fool’s goal: look at the UN and the EU! Then too, creating a “club” of big nations to exercise control over the ungainly and unprincipaled lot of nations is likewise foolhardy, and decidedly undemocratic. The world is not ready for a central super-government with the power to enforce its decrees, and we would be more than foolish to champion such a move; we would be acting against, or even more strongly, violating, the well-being and the wishes of our own citizens, our Constitution, and our sovereignty.
It is obvious that among the “club members” would have to be China, Russia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, India and Iran, which is a collection of nations that have little regard for the US or for international government, unless, perhaps, it is they that govern, some by way of religious dictates. Two blocks of nations stand in the way as well: the Africans and the Islamic nations, that tend to vote as blocks. The idea that all nations can be treated as sovereign individuals over which we can impose a strong government along the lines of republicanism (or even blatantly totalitarian, which may well evolve in the end!) is not only dangerous to us, but also impractical and immoral on the face of it! We cannot seem to stop nuclear proliferation today, for example, despite the best intentions and commitments of major nations, and I seriously doubt we will be able to tomorrow, either.

Steering Us into Chaos
A few thoughts on where the left is taking us.
Some key themes the left seems to be carrying forward are:
1) Castigating conservatives with false accusations in a constant drumbeat of slogans;
2) Castigating Constitutionalists and rightists with the meme that the Constitution is out of date, an idea that I challenge most heartedly;
3) Castigating conservative radio talk show hosts for being...themselves! and,
4) At least implicitly, riding the "man is the measure of all things" meme, or in other words, atheistic Secular Humanism, materialism and moral relativism. But, I suppose they have to believe in "something" in order to understand anything, even if that something is dead wrong.
It is amazing to me that anyone can believe in some form of benign-but-authoritative world government, a major SH and leftist tenet that includes equal and democratic shares of power for immoral or amoral governments, ruling parties and national elites. There is no common cultural, religious, political, social, economic, military or philosophical basis for such a lash up, and it would most certainly ruin the sovereignty of our nation and our way of life. So why entertain this corrosive idea?
This idea, in turn, suggests that one must have a higher allegiance than to our nation---that is, to all of unwashed mankind and their leaderships (and not to God, of course!). This is perhaps the root of the belief in open borders for the US and amnesty for illegal immigrants, which is an impending disaster if Obama has his way.
The last two world government attempts, namely The League of Nations and the United Nations, have been failures in the large--a statement that has been well-illustrated elsewhere. Promoting more of the same is sheer folly! The over 200 governments around the world, their power elites, and a majority of their people are simply too intellectually, economically, culturally, politically and morally primitive or insular, or both, to play their expected altruistic roles in democratic or republican world governance at this juncture. The UN record provides all the proof needed for this assertion. For the backward nations to learn by doing in the UN is also rediculous when so many lives are at stake worldwide.
We do need mechanisms for controlling aggression, world domination movements (think Islam), genocide, piracy, open seas violations, wanton exploitation of resources, theft, and commerce, to name a few international law needs. Most of these needs can and should be accomplished by enforceable and monitored treaties between relevant nations for now. They can be backed up by the military power of the US and allied democratic Western nations, where the notions of democratic governance and justice are culturally and politically dominant. We should not concern ourselves with events in the interior of sovereign nations, or else there is no meaning to sovereignty. If asked to help by a legitimate government, however, that is a different thing, and such requests should be carefully considered.

Where is there good news?
I can't find any!
The Stock Market is heading for a crash.
The oil slick is devastating our Southern coasts.
The liberal Congress and President are still pumping up the spending, and making policy to perpetuate their programs.
Islamic jihadists are doing well with their soft attack, and the hard attacks such as Hood are being smothered in the media.
Afghanistan is still rumbling along without victories to mention and more casualties to cry about.
Iraq is heading towards Shiite dominance, and friendly relations with Iran.
Iran is able now to make two bombs and no one is listening.
Our President is selling Israel down the river after we have supported them for their entire existence.

The national debt now exceeds our GDP for a year.
Taxes are on the way up—drastrically!
Few nations respect Obama; few respect the US now.
The Obama Presidency is a failure.
China is taking us to the cleaners.
We face a depression of multiple years.
Joblessness is above 9.7% in fake government terms; above 16% in real economic terms.
The government is not responding properly to any of our problems; in fact, they seem to want these problems to overwhelm us. Do they want to create a socialist takeover?
Pakistan is a pain in the ass. North Korea is dangerous. All are worse than when Bush was President. The Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty is worthless once Iran obtains the bomb.
The media, and much of the blogosphere, concentrate on trivia.
It is hard to write about relatively meaningless situations when our nation is seemingly coming apart at the seams.
The mid-term elections will probably help the cause some, but not the sweeping change we need to avoid chaos.
Good news! The President has two and a half years to go, minimum!

List of Vital Issues for America
Here is my updated list as of march, 2009:
1. Christianity--growing its moral importance to our citizens.
2. Islam--recognizing that we are at both active and passive war with Islam.
3. Conservatism--getting the traditional fiscal and social conservative message to the public.
4. Liberalism--defeating their outrageous propositions to change America, and ensuring they do not have another opportunity in the future.
5. Education--revising our education system to give a better education, and take the federal government out of it. Let the states run education.
6. Science--honest, scientific tracking of climate change; energy breakthroughs; improve the environment, research on nuclear energy.
7. Globalization--bringing more nations back into higher wealth and lower poverty.
8. US Government--reforms in Congress, the Judiciary (SCOTUS in particular), and the Administration.
9. US Financial Stability--reform of the budget, reduction in spending.
10. UN and World Politics--deemphasize the UN in favor of friendly democratic nations.
11. World Poverty--work to end starvation of masses of people.
12. WMD Proliferation--stop it by force; carry a big stick. Give ultimatums to Iran and N. Korea.
13. Natural Resources--conservation of scarce resources is a must.
14. The European Union--partner, ally, or dedicated trade enemy? Walk carefully!
15. China--carry a very big stick. Reduce imports.
16. Social Changes in the US--preserve our effective institutions and traditions from socialistic, and communitarian changes.
17. Security--support the GWOT, keep the Patriot Act, allow all policemen to arrest, hold and deport illegals after a hearing before a local judge.
18. Immigration--cap the flow with strong, complete fences, deport illegals, create an effective guest worker program.
19. Corruption in Government--our legislators, judges, and the administration have gone wild, and must be reined in. It is not accidental that the immigration bill is being reinstated. Return to original intent of the Constitution.
20. Administration-- work to unseat Obama, his bunch of radicals, and all of the leftist Congressmen in 2010 and 2012.
21. Defense--Bolster troop power by two or three additional divisions, and continue major weapon programs, perhaps at a somewhat lower pace.

World Government--NO!
Why I Am Against World Government
1. Foreign Control: I do not accept that there would be substantial foreign control of our laws, our way of life, and how we are governed.
2. Bureaucratic Nightmare: Our own government is already far too complex for men to understand. Adding a significant layer on top of this complexity would ensure that the average citizen would be submerged, never to be seen again. The added cost of this layer would be substantial, for little return in concrete benefits. It is not the US that would benefit, but the poorer nations. This is simply another scheme for forced redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor.
3. Financial Corruption on a Super Scale: The UN currently wants all nations to contribute 0.7% of the gross national product of each member to the annual fund. For the US, with a GNP of 13 trillion dollars, that would mean over 910 billion dollars donated to UN care. Does anyone think that this kind of money could be handled by the UN with no corruption? I don't, and we have the OFF program as Example One to prove the point.
4. A Stacked Deck Against the US: Currently, the UN is stacked against us by a large margin, and if their legislation could be forced on us, you can be sure that it would be to our detriment. Any future so-called World Government would evolve into the same situation, where we are outvoted at every turn. This is not in our interests at all.
5. Amorality/Immorality: Many of the 200-odd nations in the world appear to have no moral guidance at all, and permit behaviors that we in the West cannot abide. At any one time there are an average of 30 wars or major insurrections going on around this stellar group of nations, and many others are in some form of dictatorship. Genocides are common, and foreigners are often treated as targets for their anger, resulting in mutilations and death for the hapless visitors. Such nations are not acceptable partners.
6. An Opportunity for Redirection: Once power has been transferred to a central world government, there will be opportunities for unscrupulous nations and individuals to seize control of the apparatus and redirect things their way. This is especially true once the central government obtains its own strong armed forces not beholden to any nation. The tax bill will become gargantuan.
7. Kangaroo Courts: As has been demonstrated by the Belgian ICC, international courts can go to extremes quickly. Our President, his staff and key generals were about to be arrested and tried under ICC rules for acts of war. This shows the errant power an international court system can appropriate for itself and apply to our people. Thank you, no.
8. Readiness Factor: For all of the above reasons, it is easily concluded that the world is not yet ready for a democratic government having its own enforcement capability and its own taxation authority. The world of nations is far too immature, conflicted, self-centered, amoral, and corrupt.

9. Defend our nation (against terrorism, against world government eroding our sovereignty)

Reform the government ( Congressional ethics, ethics rules with teeth, term limits, campaign financing, tort law, INTEL & CIA, DHS, STATE, IRS, Line-Item-Veto, unrelated riders on bills, sneak ways of passing bills, horse-trading between bills, legislating from the bench, Takings., and many others in the 1,177 agencies, committees, boards, commissions, etc )
12. Help those in dire need ( natural disaster victims, the ill, the disabled, and the poorest)
13. Reform the welfare state (promote personal initiative, personal responsibility)
14. Promote every citizen to be a solid Stakeholder in the US and issue them a personal identity card (work, invest, serve, vote, patriotism)
15. Conserve where we must (environment, energy, emissions, waste, pollution, greenery)
16. Reform our foreign relations policies on a nation-by-nation basis, and strengthen true democracies. (this would be in parallel with the house-cleaning at STATE)
17. Reduce our participation and contribution to the UN, and marginalize it :
(the UN has become not only corrupt and dangerous to our sovereignty, but actively hostile to the US. We should seek partners in world governance that are true democracies. Negative UN decisions about our nation are to be rejected. )

Built into our genes?
It has always seemed to me that a significant morality was instilled into human beings from the start. A morality, and an awareness of the idea of God was there. It can be rejected and covered over, but it is still a potent, transcendental force for most of us. This morality burgeons forth when needed to solve the problems of life, even when unbidden, and even when unwanted and ridiculed.
Similarly, a good education from the early years on most often predisposes one to seek one’s own way, and to live by a code that is agreeable to the self. If that education is slanted by religion, informed by religion, and instilled by religion, it too will burgeon forth with or without conscious assent in future years.
Thus there are these two factors—inherent morality and education—that are not really capable of being totally suppressed by the minds of most people. They can be an embarrassment to conscious thought as well, particularly if one has decided to run counter to their moral instincts and teachings. It is a massive internal struggle, I believe, that each of us has to go through (or to avoid, by accepting the morality, accepting the religion, and accepting the teachings without challenge.).
Rejecting God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost, and all of the rituals, ceremonies, dogmas, miracles and trappings of formal religion is indeed a massive mental and psychological undertaking. I suspect, however, that the truth is as I have said—it is all still there, that religion, just lightly covered over with evasions, counter arguments, misbelieving, and misunderstandings.
One question I posed to myself is: why does the universe, life and man exist at all? Is there a purpose, or not? I find it exceedingly difficult to ascribe it all to pure mechanism.

American Ideas
A few ideas that make all the difference!
Let us assume that we believe in the Constitution fully, the laws of the land, and the premise of a free and equal opportunity nation. No, I do not mean the constitution that you want to have, or that you want to revise, I mean the Constitution as written and interpreted by the Supreme Court as of today, and any extensions of that law into the civil laws. There is a formal procedure to change the Constitution that must be the only way it can be changed. Any other subversion is an abomination that must not be allowed to happen.
The premise of an equal opportunity society is hardly ever challenged as it reads. It seems that there is general agreement that all of us must have equality of opportunity. Then comes the groups that claim we must also have equality of outcome. On this slim and pervasive idea, many legislators have bought into the methods of redistribution of wealth by way of progressive taxation and welfare programs. Thus many of our lower income citizens not only pay no tax, they receive money from the government as a direct redistribution of wealth from the better off to the poor. This is pure socialization. Many citizens, myself included, consider this progressive redistribution to be stealing by the government, and it should be terminated. A flat tax would be correct.
A current progressive meme is that of general non-discrimination of any individual or group against any other individual or group. The reductio ad absurdum for this meme is obvious: to carry this out in the ultimate case you must suspend your common sense and your ability to judge people for their honesty, veracity, and reliability. You must equate Christianity with Islam as equally valid, which is simply not a true comparison at all, as can easily be demonstrated. The ridiculous cases can be found everywhere in life. Thus, some definite forms of discrimination must be practiced to survive in this world.

To Be American
Positive directions (version 2, 4/5/07)

So what do I stand for? What decisions have I made regarding my birth heritage? I decided to record some of the more important decisions I have made or positions I have taken, while leaving the record open for additions and modifications later on. Here is my list:
First of all (in addition to Mom, the Flag, and Apple Pie):
Be an American:
Support the Constitution of the
Maintain the integrity of the Constitution against “progressive” changes, such as denial of possession and use of guns.
Be true to the principles of our Republican form of Government,
Be true to the principles of a tripartite government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial,
Defend the boundaries of each member of the tripartite,
Work to restore the tripartite boundaries where discovered to be wrong,
Restore fiscal sanity to government,
Obey the laws of the land, the states, counties, and cities,
Maintain state’s rights, and the Electoral College,
Respect the constitutional and legal rights of all citizens, unless they abrogate those rights by advocating overthrow of the
Be a patriot, and an upstanding and honest citizen,
Be aware of our national shortcomings, and work to fix them.
Some American Shortcomings:
There are very many problems that vex our nation, all the way from daily life quarrels to truly world-shaking conflicts. The few I call out here are significant to the survival of our nation and our people, but it is by no means a complete list.
Education of our children is woefully lacking, the school system is broken, and money is not the cure, per se, nor are fashionable experiments on our children. It is also true, however, that we do not pay our teachers as well as we should, despite massive infusions of money from the federal government, which appears to be absorbed by the bureaucratic superstructure of education, not by benefits for the teachers and pupils. You can thank John Dewey for starting this mess.
Voter education suffers from lack of political, social, economic, scientific and historical education, and from a lack of how to think through and around the propaganda that is used by politicians to cloud minds. A campaign promise is no more than a wish list in the hands of hypocrites and liars, as we found out in the
Voter turnout is likewise too low for a true participatory republic, and it has been creeping lower every year. This must be reversed.
Life values are skewed in the direction of materialism, comfort, an overarching political correctness born of excessive fear of offending anyone at all, and a general shunning of the duties and responsibilities of a citizen of this republic. We will lose our republic to indifference or to fruitcakes if we cannot correct these things.
Our news media is heavily biased toward the positions of the Left, and gives the public a willfully distorted and brief sound-bite view of the real situation around the world. What does not fit the ideology does not get reported. This is a treasonable act in a democracy. Have you ever realized that over 3 million times a year a citizen owning a gun has thwarted a criminal in his attempt to commit a crime? It is not reported because it does not fit the ideology of gun control saves (a few) lives, where, in fact, guns save millions from perpetrators yearly.
Politically oriented people acting as spokesmen for their party likewise lie, fabricate, and promote falsities to further their party’s ambitions for power. This most definitely promotes cynicism and disrespect for our political and governmental institutions.
When these two factors--the media and the politicos-- operate together to suppress the truth and further the Leftist message, our nation is in grave danger. That is the current situation.
Elitism appears to be the rising ambition for countless citizens who believe their wealth; social position, brains, education, connections and right thinking; make them defacto, unheralded and unelected leaders of the nation. These people must face the white glare of publicity, and the scorn of true patriots. (Some of these so-called elites should simply “Shut Up and Sing” as Laura Ingraham aptly stated, or simply “Act” as the case may be.)
We are a litigious nation, and it is only getting worse. We must work to bring sanity back to justice under the law. Since many, if not most, legislators are also lawyers; one might ask whether tort reform is ever possible by means of legislation.
The Legislative Branch of the government needs to be overhauled to break up cabals, pork, busted budgets, excessive time and money spent electioneering, and tenures into dotage. Term limits is an answer to the 20 and 30 year residents of the House and Senate. This would require a constitutional amendment.
The Judicial Branch must be constrained from performing legislation from the bench, thus usurping the functions of the other branches. Capricious decisions by Leftist judges have done terrible damage to the public in the past twenty years, by letting hardened criminals back out onto the street far too soon. Limiting the terms of the judges either by a fixed number of years or by an age limit is a way to avoid a self-perpetuating bias on the part of politically oriented judges acting singly or in concert.
The Administrative Branch needs a careful, objective study to find out where it has exceeded its powers, and what must be done to restore the balance, if anything.
I have no idea who I would trust fully and appoint to such a study commission. There are seemingly ever fewer trusty, wise old hands to set to work in the business of
We must have a new approach to taxes that is both simple and fair. I support the Flat Tax idea.
Americans as a group are fat, sloppy fat, even disgustingly jelly-fat. The cure is a proper diet, avoiding burgers, french-fries, cokes and milk shakes, along with regular exercise. I get the impression that all of the books and ads regarding the necessity for weight reduction are largely falling on deaf ears in the over 30 group. This says much about our discipline, our lack of regard for our bodies, and our indulgent way of life.
Two great values many Americans on the political scene seem to have dropped altogether are honesty and integrity. At least that is how it comes out when listening to the systematic, outright lies and distortions, the out-of-context cherry-picking of statements, and the making up of issues out of thin air made by fully 50% of the politicians in Washington--namely, the Democrats. One lies, and the rest swear to it. It may also be true that the current rank and file of the Democratic Party is equally likely to have deep-sixed their honesty and integrity in their quest for political victory at any cost.

Voting, championing, and commenting on issues,
Paying taxes, and supporting valid institutions,
Respecting majority and minority positions, but,
Working against majority or minority positions
that threaten harm to
Working against the poison spewed forth from fringe groups,
Supporting capitalism and free market economies,
Becoming well-informed about issues and trends,
Joining associations and organizations that work for the betterment of
Advocating conservative values and policies,
Supporting campaigns for trustworthy people, or even by running for office yourself,
Participating in the military services and in the conflicts that arise when we are called; we need a strong military!
Participating in support for our soldiers and veterans, and for provision of the proper tools of war,
Defending law-abiding and innocent Americans worldwide,
Defending the sovereignty of the
Defending the religious choices of all citizens, including the religion of atheism or unbelief in God, unless the religion itself is a threat to us, as is Islam.
Defend and protect the
Religious, anti-religious, and non-religious acts of terror,
Further secularization of the government,
