On Collectivism
Collectivism versus Communism and Socialism
The first terms that come to mind about Collectivism are the older and simpler Communist and Fellow Traveler, rather than the myriad shades of Radical Liberalism, Progressivism, Collectivism, Socialism, Marxism and (still) Communism that are in use today to describe both theoretical and actual government organizations, and in particular, some political group orientations that are operating in and around our government today.
The primary evidence I have come across to date of a substantial group flying the flag of Socialism in America is the 56 to 70 or so members( as of about 2000) of the Democratic Socialists of America or DSA that are also members of the House of Representatives of the USA. They are identified here by name:
http://www.tysknews.com/Depts/gov_philosophy/dsa_members.htm
Of course, it is not very smart for such men to parade their allegiance to Socialism in today’s Individualistic America, nor is it very practical for those who believe in Communism to wear their badges either, in the public eye if they want to serve in government, so they hide under various guises: Progressivism, Collectivism, “Democratic Socialism (of America!), Liberalism, Far-Leftists, but not the poison word Communism, not yet anyway!
From the same source:
“Q: What are seven principles behind what the DSA's calls it's "Progressive Challenge?"
Dignified Work
Environmental Justice
Economic Redistribution
Democratic Participation
Community Empowerment
Global Non-Violence
Social Justice
To implement these mainly Collectivist/Socialist principles, there must be significant change in the US. Private Property must be dissolved in favor of the State; Economic Redistribution really means to take over the productive industries and all of the land of the private sector by way of eminent domain, and for the government to become the owner of record, as Socialist nations must. Then it will be the government that is supposed to solve all of the problems of inequality in our current society, render social justice to the downtrodden, lead the effort to create environmental justice for the World, provide “dignified work” to all, and stand down our military in an act to further non-violence in the World, or else empower the UN to have its own military capable of co-opting all or nearly all national militaries to their ends.
I would personally argue that there are both short-range goals (a few decades), and long-range goals (perhaps three, four, or more decades) for the DSA and its allied organizations. In the short range it is the further Socialization of America. It is not clear, however, which of the many brands and subbrands of Socialism they have in mind. In the long range, however, it is for the Socialist State to evolve into a Communist State, an outcome that Marx thought to be inevitable. Here again, the exact type of Communism is not specified, but one thing is certain: it would have to be a revolution to a totalitarian regime in order to seize full control in America.
Marx wrote that in order to implement the Utopian Communist State it would be necessary to destroy the existing Capitalist state completely, and then to rebuild it along Socialist/Communist lines, together with the careful fostering and education of the New Socialist Man (see Theodore His-en Chen, http://www.jstor.org/pss/1186949, and others.), who would fit to populate this Utopia.
A radical idea in this regard is to separate parents from their children so that the children can be educated very early on to the New Socialist Man philosophy, which was an early staple concept in both Communism and Secular Humanism as first defined. Religion in this Utopia is to be destroyed in favor of elevating the State to a God-like status. While this concept is very much still in the minds of Collectivists, they could not stand up to the furor that was raised by the people about giving up their children, so they left it out of later tomes.
This path to Utopia has never been and never will be completed for the very simple reason that those in power can not give their power up, they cannot manage a modern economy effectively, and those oppressed by this false dream will in the end rise up against it, and they will not morph themselves into or foster the New Socialist Man. In my estimation, Utopianism is a chimera, and hence undue emphasis in government to Socialist or Communist principles is doomed to failure.

Why Socialism?
Work or not, you live well---maybe!
The Socialist dream will never die, simply because it promises a free ride to everyone regardless of their contribution to society or their indigence.
Those in favor of Socialism slather at the prospect of:
--free education through university, including subsistence.
--free healthcare.
--free or well under market value housing.
--free and paid six or eight week vacations plus 9 or 10 holidays a year.
--full employment and a protected job for life.
--worry-free retirement
--guaranteed living wage to everyone regardless of their being employed or not.
--very low-cost loans guaranteed by the government to buy furniture, appliances, automobiles, clothes and vacations.
All of these goodies would be paid for by the taxpayers, both private parties and businesses, through onorous tax burdens reaching 80-90% of profit or income at the top income levels.
This is the promise of Socialism--but it is a false promise that cannot be met for very practical reasons.
What isn't stated clearly is the thrust by Socialists for income leveling; that is, the CEO would make merely three times what the janitor would make. The incentive to get ahead would be lost. Then, too, a Socialist state has a built-in progression from a citizen's paradise to a more totalitarian state over a very short time in historical terms. Thus there would be the priveleged "haves" and the underpriveleged "have littles and have nots" rather quickly, which was the situation in Soviet Russia for 75 years.
The final blow to Socialism is the necessity to own and manage the economy, which is such an enormous task that even in this age of massive computers and a few intelligent men we still cannot account for all of the variables in an economy of any reasonable size. Thus there would be shortages, no output and overproduction of everything, including food, as was the case in the USSR.
It takes gall and hubris, not to mention stupidity, for anyone to think that they can do it better the next time around, mainly because it is completely contrary to human nature. Even Marx understood this!

Beck's Rally Rocks!
Two Comments on the Day
1. Crowd size estimates are politicized for the simple reason that they may foretell the political fate of the radicals in office. Since it has been speculated that for every citizen that shows up at a rally about 100 are wishing they could, Rally Size x 100 = Disaster for the Incumbents. A big cheer for that, even though the ostensible goal of the Beck rally was not political! I would put the size of the DC rally at about 300,000, which I hope represents 30 million voters against Obama!
2. For many years we had a proper, more livable balance of religion and secularism in the nation, but since more atheists and agnostics have found their voice and their organizations, such as the ACLU and The Humanist Society, the secularists have been on the rise. (It just may be that a few of them are posting here now!) Their main result so far seems to be to have created great disharmony where there had been little or none, to attack Christians wherever found, to advocate legislation that is counter to or subversive of the Constitution, to invent a community organizer and wishwashy, socialistic politico as worthy of the Presidency, to elect to Congress the likes of Pelosi and Reid, to pass unread legislation that will break the bank, and to run the deficit to the sky! Good job SH’ers! Go look back at #1 above.

Universal Everything!
Politics for the Future
It would appear that Obama will run in 2012.
It would appear that at least Romney or Palin will run against Obama, if not one of a few others that pop up.
Whether Palin emerges as a competent conpetitor or not, if she gets the Republican nomination, she gets my vote, since, after tons of reasoned analysis mixed in with several “I told you so’s”, I see Obama and his ilk as a far, far worse threat to the nation, czars and all! One ecomomic analysis has our 2019 national debt at $32 Trillion with all of the Obama stuff properly accounted for.
Of course, I would rather have Romney as President and cheer him on as he deconstructs the Obama era, and constructs a new, sound conservative era for our country. Out with change for the sake of unions and cronies, and in with change we can understand item by item, and be able to judge each of them in turn to be good.
Democratic Utopianism is apparently far from dead in this nation. Let me see, by 2012 we may find ourselves with a government that supports:
Universal world government. It is still championed, despite the preponderance of evil nations.
Universal World Constitution. Here is their chance to rid the US of that pesky Constitution that keeps limiting things they want to do… for the people.
Universal Healthcare. It is on the table now.
Universal Education is very likely not far behind; free through college. There is quite a stimulus here for the building industry.
Universal Welfare is coming back under many disguises, such as earmarks, stimuluses and the like, and eventually out in the open.
Universal Housing had a rough beginning, but they are working on it. The concept of a no-payback mortgage seems to make sense. Then there could be no defaulting! Here is yet another stimulus for the building industry!
Universal Retirement Funds better than Social Security will be in the mix. Let's all retire to Hawaii.
Universal Insurance covering, well, everything from life to autos to housing, to health, to…you name it! Very high premiums, enforced membership, long waits for settlements and low payouts would be par for Government-run operations.
Universal Food and Agriculture Management will ensure enough to eat for the world–hopefully. Here comes rationing!
Universal Loans for any old purpose, guaranteed by the US Government, will ensure that the entrepreneural spirit never dies. Maybe it will be on the Korean System where each family member gets three chances to establish himself in a business funded by the family (in our case, the Feds).
Universal Correctness of Speech and Hate Control will ensure employment for just about every other person in the nation–Dems–to watch over us and report– 24/7.
Universal Unionization Act will make us all joiners, else there will be a penalty of $10,000 and an 8-year jail term. Another big immigration employment boost here–a lot more jails to build!
Universal Immigration and Open Borders Act. Y’all come!
Universal Environmental Controls Act. This will make it very difficult for Repubs to buy, build, or operate any kind of business, and will extend Government control over every aspect of business in general.
Note 1: To my children: After 2020, invest in the building industry!
Note 2: Do it in Hawaii!
Note 3: Cancel the first two notes! The nation will be totally broke far before any of these Utopian stimuluses (stimuli?) take effect.

Nothing to Bear but Bear Itself!
Bearallels!
When you’re tracking a highly dangerous animal-say, a grisley–you first pick up disturbances on the ground or bushes. As you follow the weak signs, they tend to get fresher and more definitive: the outlines of pawprints become clearly forced into the soil, and the broken branches are quite new and dripping sap. Then you may hear grunts and snarls. If you persist, suddenly rising before you to his full 12-foot height stands the grisley bear, and his intentions are now quite clear indeed. You are his next meal. No escaping now: such bears can run at 35 mph, and I do not think you are that fast.
Experienced trackers would have picked up that it was a grisley very quickly, and would have made proper preparations in case of an encounter with this most fearsome animal in the North, including retreating to the truck to get a high caliber rifle and pistol, asking others to accompany them to provide even more firepower, and walking in a skirmish line to give everyone a good shot.
I see your so-called kooks as amateur trackers that have picked up early signs of the bear, but have little idea what they need to do next. The professionals are not on site yet, but the bear is lurking around, for sure, snorting often (too often!), and making his presence known, although at some distance.
These anateurs know well that they could lose their lives to the bear, so they make noise, shout, wave their hands wide and all those things that just might scare the bear off. None of them had the wisdom to carry a good weapon in the midst of grisley country. Of course, they look like bumbling fools and idiots to an observer that is blissfully unaware of the bear signs and sounds that provoked those people.
But, the grisley bear is really there, and will be for the time being…

Socialism in the US?
The Socialist Platform of 1928
Extracted from “The Conscience of a Conservative”, Barry Goldwater, Appendix A.
A brief summary of Appendix A shows that: 1) many socialist objectives had been achieved by 1972; and that 2) the ideas of the Socialist Party have not died since 1972, but are quite well and alive in the current Administration and Congress. We can expect to see these kinds of policies and legislation rearing their heads again; in fact, they already have.
1. Nationalization of natural resources…(Dams, others)
2. Public ownership of power systems…(TVA, others)
3. National ownership of railroads and other means of communication and transportation…(AMTRAC, FCC, etc)
4. A national program for flood control, reforestation, irrigation and reclamation..( US Army Corps of Engineers and other agencies)
5. Government relief of the unemployed by public works programs…(unionized wage laws for public employees)
6. Loans to states and municipalities without interest, and grants in aid…(huge grants in aid)
7. Unemployment insurance…(part of Social Security)
8. A network of public employment agencies…(US Employment Service)
9. A system of health and accident insurance and old age pensions…(Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid)
10, Shortening the workday…(wage and hours laws)
11. An anti-child labor law…(achieved in various acts)
12. Abolition of the exploitation of convicts…(partly achieved)
13. Increase of taxation on high incomes, corporations, and inheritances…(was achieved)
14. Appropriation by taxation of all lands held for speculation..(not achieved)
While a few of these programs may not be purely socialistic, in sum the direction is indeed Socialistic. It would seem that the current Administration is borrowing ideas from the Socialist Party Platform, with their control over large financial institutions, the automobile industry, heavy stimulus funding being handed out, and the general direction that was precursed in 1928.

Obama's Two Faces
The man is popular, but his policies aren't.
This situation puzzles me no end. Obama racks up personal kudos at a blistering pace, reaching an approval rating of 57% Yet his administration racks up on the order of 48% approval, and Congress does no better than 35%. He has made all kinds of booboos, and champions a spending rate that will impovrish my great grandchildren. I simply don't see why these things aren't coupled to Obama's personal ratings. Time may take care of it, but as an impatient American, I see the jobless lines growing and the deficit growing every day. To think we will have 3 1/2 more years of this is crushing.
How can it be?

Glenn Beck: Conservative
He clowns around, but he makes his point effectively!
Beck uses calculated bombast, and clownish faces to entertain as he educates and informs a fairly respectable audience. Such exaggeration and showmanship can be distasteful and offputting as you wait for the rest of the story to emerge. And emerge it does, sooner or later.
I welcome any commentator that can hold an audience while injecting conservative opinions into the public mind, or, at least, challenges the public to look into the subject for themselves, without the liberal bias that otherwise might prevail.
That there are more serious and dignified voices to be heard, voices that lay open the subject such that they convince the listener of the truth of their words, and of the conservative way, is quite obvious. But just who is this serious and dignified spokesman and potential leader of the conservative way? Not found yet? No? (I say no!)
Meanwhile, we have commentators such as Beck that are carrying the torch, and making an impression on people. His audience was around 2 million at last report, which is far more than is reached by RWNH or all other rightwing blogs combined, I believe.
This is a valid contribution to the cause, I suggest, and one that should be praised for its honest virtues.
As for the idea that Obama is leading us stepwise into socialism, who can say definitively at this juncture that he isn’t? Not Mr. Moran, although he actually tries to do so, without a shread of evidence here to bolster his case.
That seems to me to be the arrogance of thinking one can read the mind of Obama and his minions and fellow travelers. And if you cannot definitively prove that he isn’t going this way, which you would have to be able to read the future to do, you must be very alert to the actual steps that he and his leftwing-driven Congress are taking that would increase the possibility of an evolving socialistic government.
Simple folk pick up signs daily that can be construed by them to be indicators of increasing penetration of dangerous social constructs, centralization of decision-making, spending out of control, and taking over of business.
Is this what we really want?
I say no!

Socilism and Obama
The Socialist in Obama is Showing
Many on the right are fearful that Obama is rather cleverly using the baloney-slice approach to the stepwise adoption of more and more, deeper and deeper socialism. Thus any baby steps today, can lead to ever longer steps tomorrow, without putting the majority of citizens on the alert to what is happening–until it is too late.
It is perhaps unfortunate that Obama’s minions sometimes speak in arrogant voices about regulation, control, and takeover of an ever widening band of private sector firms. Such talk has the effect of stoking the fears of the right.
Then too, there is little trust on the right for the Obama administration eventually backing out of these controls at some point and returning such firms fully to the owners and the free market. They may hand GM back only if GM cuts itself down to Cadillac and Chevrolet by direction or coersion of the government.
We have seem only the opening moves in this chess game, and the incremental signs are not encouraging at all. Let us fire people as a precondition of government support! We may eventually have to pry the government out of most major firms’ business to get back our partially mixed, but mainly free market economy.
That is, if we can.

Pessimism Sets in on the Economy
Dreamland is not so much fun--it is very socialistic!
I have plugged along all this while, hoping that there would be sanity in this administration and the liberal Congress, despite all that history, my mind and my intuition told me about Obama and the left. No more.
We supposedly have a GNP of some 13 trillion dollars per year. Obama is proposing to commit that much in one year to his stimulating pork projects and dissembling directions towards the leveling effects of socialism and communism. It is to be spent over some time, of course, but there is no doubt that we cannot sustain that level of expenditures year in and year out, nor can we spend like madmen for a year or three, and then cut back by, 60 %or 80%.
Nor will the economy recover and forge ahead that far in the time allotted. Rosy projections of what the economy will do simply won't cut it in today's business environment. So we end up with the government owning much of the industry and banking in order to find some income to service the national debt. That is socialism, pure and simple.
We are being conned into allowing socialism to take over, I believe, and the means for stopping it are not obvious to me. I fear for the way of life of my grandchildren. I have too few years left to worry much about myself; I have had a long life. But my worry is that America will not be what she has been for my offspring, and that I resent. I resent my family's future being gambled with by a smooth talking socialist bent on changing America radically, and I resent very heavily those who voted this paragon into office.
I will master my pessimism somehow, and I will find a way to fight for what I believe is the right direction for the nation with all of my remaining breath.
Obama lied, the economy died!

I am Frightened--Socialism is on the March
Obama Leads Us toward Socialism
A very few days of Obama's Presidency, and we are beginning to see the man for what he is, and what he stands for: socialism, with a twist.
We have effectively one-party rule now, and it seems that no one can stop it from transforming the nation into a socialist nightmare--American style.
The so-called stimulus bill is a case in point. The bill was railroaded through Congress, not allowing time for its thousand pages to be read by any Legislator at all. We do not know what is in that bill, not fully, and I predict that it will contain provisions that Americans will chafe under, and rebel against. What we thought would be a reduced bill of about 790 billion dollars, seems to have exploded to 1.2 trillion dollars, as the markups turned out to be add-ons.
Clarification: The current bill authorizes 787 billion dollars, of which much is devoted to construction on highways, railroads, bridges, federal buildings, military building and the like. My point was that these expenses and others, will very likely overrun their planned budgets by at least 100% in the coming years, adding about 400 billion dollars to the total. One can examine the many building projects of the government during the past 20 years, where a 100% overrun is considered a success!
More then any other President, Obama is ruling by Executive Decree. He has already negated most of the orders of the Bush era by fiat, and without any transparency whatsoever. He has gone back on his campaign promises to conduct the business of the government in an open and transparent manner.
However, he has not reined in the presiding Nuts in Congress--Pelosi and Reid, or their corps of dishonest politicians. He didn't have real input into the stimulus bill! Instead, he allowed the Nuts to write it, and the Nuts turned the task over to their staffs. So it is the wild and woolly staffs that know in detail what is in the bill, not their fearless leader Moonbats.
Obama is angling to capture the Census Bureau, and put it directly under his thumb. Why is this important? The Census is the way we decide how many legislators we will have from each district. If you subvert the Bureau into a political pawn of the Democratic Party, guess who profits from this? Do you believe that the Democratic Administration will refrain from cooking the books to ensure more Democrats get into Congress? We will be faced with a Thousand Year Democratic Reich, if we can avoid the concentration camps.
Obama entered into correspondence with the Iranian Government before he was elected, telling them how he would be easier on them, so let's play nice. This is not how candidates should act behind the back of a sitting President.
His minions are about to introduce bills that disarm the citizenry, which is arguably the first step to ensure no uprising of an armed populace against his tyranny. All you have to do is watch each step to see where it is all heading: a socialist takeover of the government and industry.
Up front, he sounds good. He sounds like someone that cares for this nation. But his behind-the-scenes actions belie this. He has made a cock up of his appointments to senior staff, and his policies were just too much for Gregg.
Virtually all of the pre-election faults we found with Obama are coming true in spades. He is a little man with wrong ideas for the nation. He duped much of the nation into electing him with high-sounding rhetoric, but with little substance. Hope and Change indeed! For him. Fear and Resentment for us all. And, watch as the Constitution is altered beyond recognition.
The mid-term elections in 2010 are probably our last and best hope to derail this socialist train before it is too late.
We Want Sane Government
We Want Honest and Open Government
We Want Efficient and Cost-Effective Government
We Want Responsible, Strong on Defense Government
We Want Our Sovereign Borders to Remain Sovereign
We Want Conservative, Constitutional Government
We are not getting it now. The Moonbats are in control. You don't get out of debt by going into greater debt, which is the path we are on: the path of bankruptcy.
May God help us from our growing national misery!
