Wayward Thoughts
What I want to see from the President on down is an aggressive attitude, a "we can win" attitude, and a "don’t mess with me" attitude. We are very much still on top, still the greatest economy, and still the most powerful military in the world.
Neither the EU nor the French nor the Germans nor the Brits have a vote in our affairs. We can and should consult with them, if only to try to minimize the impacts of our decisions on them. But to accord the EU socialists with more than that is to give them far more influence than they have earned. If we look into the future, we should be concerned about the EU becoming Eurasia, and creating their councils to support the hordes of Muslims in their midst.
We need not treat the UN as a holy of holies when it comes to our need to take action in our eventual or immediate defense. Of the some 200 members in the General Assembly, our supporters do not amount to more than a few dozen. In the Security Council there are strange bedfellows as members now, and it promises to become far worse. The main reason to stay a member is to wield our veto when needed.
The world is full of two things: the poor, and the whiners. No matter how many trillions of dollars we dump freely on the rest of the nations we can count on the recipients being ungrateful for it, their being very vocal in wanting more and more, and their population exploding evermore beyond our help. There is nothing wrong with tithing as a nation and having zero expectations of anything in return, but when the tithes are turned into militias, AK-47s and IEDs, or voting blocks against our interests in a region, seizure of US property, or even murder of our citizens, we are doing something very wrong, and should stop our support.
The attitude that it is the poor we are trying to help so put up with the anti-American governments at the top is just woefully counterproductive.
We make martinets, millionaires and militias with our money. This is wrong.

Obama Goes Abroad
If it is Tuesday, it Must be France! (or, is it Germany?)
OMG, what's the name of that Prime Minister?
Barack Obama is all set to travel to Jordan, Israel, France, Germany and England in a six-day jaunt, for what purpose I haven't a clue. He will barely have time to shake hands with anyone in each whistle stop of the tour. They say that security is a serious problem, too, forcing the Obama camp to hide the itinerary from the public, lest the bad guys set a trap for him.
Will he come back and tell us all that he has been there, and now knows all there is to know about those nations? Will he say that he now has intimate relationships with the leaders in Europe?
What will he achieve with such a blitz of a visit? Does this burnish his credentials for foreign affairs? Is he now really well-informed about the problems of these nations? Does he realize the depth of feeling these nations have concerning America?
Really now, this is merely a political stunt designed to allay our fears that he knows jack-all about other nations, foreign affairs, conflicts areound the world, and political differences in each of those nations. If anyone is fooled by this cynical maneuver, shame on them.
He knows Jack-all, and will know Jack-all when he returns.
Oh, which one of those guys was the Premier?
UPDATE: 7/22/08
Now we know! Obama is NEGOTIATING WITH THE IRAQIS, DURING A WAR. This has never been done by a candidate in the history of the union. And, to top it off, he gave a press conference in which his faltering AH, Um, that is, um, ah! talk was a full 8 minutes long out of 45 minutes. This is our other candidate? He is indeed an empty suit. May God protect America from such irrelevance!
His sneaky trip actually started in Afghanistan, went to Iraq, and then to Jordan, mostly for a photo op with leaders, except for his injecting himself into the Iraqi war and its negotiations. He should be condemned for this. 30-minute diplomacy is not sound; and candidate diplomacy is totally out of order!

Howard Dean and His Ego
In an outrageous piece, Howard Dean has accused George Bush of losing the moral high ground in Iraq with "world leaders". He has been meeting with them, saying that when the power shifts to the dems, they will be ready to have far better relationships with these moral cowards. It figures! Why, it is far better to bury one's head in the sand and let things take their course, than to make a moral and honest attempt to fix the problem of Muslim aggression. This is yet another example of propaganda that daily bombards the nation, and it undoubtedly has a significant effect on those who thirst for a dem win, and on those who do not think for themselves.
The United States took the moral high ground some 4 years ago, and has not let it go. We are still making strides in pacifying Iraq, and trying to build a stable government with as much democracy as can be instilled in an Islamic nation in the short time since the fall of Saddam. We have expended lives and money far beyond what others have spent to rein in the Muslim fanatics, and I resent some punk from Carolina dissing this grandly conceived effort for political gain. It is the "world leaders" that have adopted a do-nothing, morally degenerate position, stemming from their military weakness, and fear of retribution from the millions of Muslims surrounding their principal cities. Eurasia is not a friend of the United States. Europe was.
We are on our own in stopping the Islamic tide.
